Shachi Kale is a terrific illustrator. While I wasn’t able to work with her directly, her art was realistic enough to fool my cats. When I was cutting out the characters for the cover, one of my cats became interested in the bird on my screen. I have a short video of my orange tabby trying to catch the bird and looking around the screen trying to find it. It was hilariously entertaining!
This was another early project with Sable Creek Press. The biggest challenge was dealing with such a long title, but the project was fun, and I was able to create a look and logo for the series. Unfortunately, these types of full-color children’s books became too costly for Sable Creek to produce, so this was the one and only book of its type that I was able to design for them.
